Fencing

What residential fencing includes

Fencing can change how a garden feels as much as how it looks. It can create privacy, improve screening, define different areas more clearly and help the boundaries sit more naturally around the house.

The best option depends on the property, the level of privacy you want and the way the boundary needs to work within the wider garden design. Closeboard, panel and picket fencing each suit different settings, and practical details such as levels, planting, drainage and underground services also help shape the right approach.

Fencing options

Closeboard fencing

Close-board fencing is a strong choice where privacy, durability and flexibility matter. It works well in gardens where the boundary needs to feel solid, while still allowing for details like capping, post caps or trellis to soften the overall finish. It can also suit uneven ground well. Because the fence is built in place rather than installed as panels, there is more flexibility around post position and site conditions, which can be useful where roots, drainage or underground services need to be taken into account.

Panel fencing

Panel fencing suits gardens where a cleaner, simpler boundary treatment feels more appropriate. It comes in a range of styles, from traditional lap panels to closeboard, lattice and trellis designs, so the finish can be selected to sit more naturally with the property and the garden. It is also a practical way to define the boundary without adding too much visual weight. Panel style, post choice and finish all influence how well it works in the space.

Picket fencing

Picket fencing suits boundaries that need to feel lighter and more open. It works particularly well at the front of a property, around planted areas, or in parts of the garden where definition is needed without closing the space in. The style can be kept simple or made more decorative to suit the setting. Height, top detail and finish all influence the overall effect, and matching pedestrian gates can be included where needed.

Our residential fencing process
Initial conversation
We start with a call or email to understand the boundary, the fencing style you are considering and the level of privacy, screening or definition you want the finished result to provide.
Site visit
A site visit gives us the chance to look at the boundary properly and talk through the options in more detail. That includes levels, access, existing planting, drainage and any practical constraints below ground that may affect the installation.
Quote and approval
After the visit, we provide a written quote with a clear scope of work, along with any relevant assumptions or exclusions. Once the quote is approved and the deposit is in place, the work can be booked in.
Installation and handover
From there, the work moves into installation, including any preparation needed along the fence line, followed by posts, gravel boards, the agreed fencing and any matching gates. Once complete, we walk through the finished work with you where possible and make sure everything has been carried out as agreed.

Why clients choose Love Landscaping for fencing

Fencing needs to do the practical job properly, but it should also suit the property and look right in the garden.

That is where the detail matters. Levels, planting, drainage and below-ground constraints can all affect the installation, particularly in more established gardens. We also source fencing materials through trusted local suppliers, which helps us keep a closer eye on quality, finish and availability.

You get clearer advice from the outset, one point of contact throughout, and a result that feels right for the property once the work is complete. If you are planning new fencing, we would be happy to talk through the boundary and the best approach for your garden.
